After careful evaluation Hewitt Robin have integrated Tension Control Bolt to single deck and dewatering vibrating screens. Hewitt Robins vibrating screens are widely recognised for their industry leading robust construction and ability to operate in some of the toughest quarrying, mining, recycling and bulk materials applications.

On display at Hillhead 2026. The UK’s largest exhibition of quarrying, construction and recycling equipment.

TCBs have widely replaced suaged collar rivets & other preloaded assemblies in general construction, rail and wind energy applications.

Arnie Glausiusz : Sales Manager TCB Ltd commented “Bolting assemblies for Stone crushing & vibrating screen applications are extremely demanding; constant vibration and other extreme forces need to be considered. Its great to see a TCB mitigating against extreme vibration is this harsh environment”

In the Stone Crusher market a key consideration is ease of installation. A Tension Control Bolt is quick and easy to install with an electric tool. Instead of Hydraulic Tooling for suaged collar rivets Regular calibration is also required with hydraulic tools for suaged collar rivets being notoriously expensive, cumbersome and awkward to manoeuvre

Visitors to this year’s Global Offshore Wind Exhibition were treated to a hands‑on demonstration of advanced fastening technology, as Macaulay Salter : Sales Engineer showcased the installation of Tension Control Bolts to an attentive audience — including Adam Price , Member of the Senedd and former leader of Plaid Cymru, took part in the demonstration, observers noted his engagement with the technical detail and his interest in the role such innovations play in supporting Wales’ renewable energy ambitions.

The demonstrations, held at the Wales pavilion drew industry professionals, local stakeholders, and policymakers eager to better understand the practical techniques underpinning modern offshore wind infrastructure. Tension Control Bolts, widely used in steel construction, are valued for their ability to deliver precise and reliable clamping force — essential in the demanding conditions faced by offshore wind turbines.

Macaulay guided attendees through the installation process step by step, highlighting both the efficiency and safety advantages of the system. Macaulay demonstrated how the bolts are tightened until a spline shears off, ensuring the correct tension has been achieved without the need for torque measurement — a feature that simplifies installation and inspection with absolutely assured structural integrity of the bolted connection.

Consistency is everything when you’re working on structures that will be exposed to extreme wind loads and marine environments, Tension Control Bolts remove variability and give installers confidence that each and every bolt in the connection meets and exceeds specification.”

Macaulay emphasised that education and demonstration are central to his role. “There’s real value in letting people try it themselves,” he said. “It bridges the gap between theory and practice and shows just how user-friendly TCB installation is!

The post Bolt-ed into the spotlight: Macaulay Salter shows Adam Price how to tighten up Wales’ offshore future at Global Offshore Wind 2026 first appeared on Tension Control Bolts Ltd.

At the centre of the redevelopment is a £210 million machine shop, a vast 30,000 m² facility set to become one of Europe’s most advanced heavy machining centres. The site will house up to 24 large-scale machines, including some of the biggest vertical turning lathes in operation.

Thousands of Tension Control Bolts will be integrated into the structure upon completion, spanning a wide range of diameters. A sincere thank you to BHC, the team responsible for the on-site steel erection, for welcoming TCB and providing a site tour – offering a valuable opportunity to see the project’s progress first hand.

Alongside this, work is progressing on a new 13,000-tonne forging line, which is set to deliver the UK’s largest open-die forging capacity once complete. With Billington Structures and VINCI the partners responsible for delivering this phase of the project, the team was provided with a CPD session on high strength tension control bolting. This offered valuable insight into installation best practices, quality assurance, design details, and the importance of corrosion protection – key factors in ensuring the integrity and performance of the steelwork.

The upgrades form part of a wider £1.3 billion recapitalisation programme, designed to modernise the company’s infrastructure and support the production of critical components for the defence and nuclear sectors, including submarine and reactor parts.

When asked how Tim’s night outside went, he said “ well, it brought back memories of sleeping out on Salisbury Plain during training 40 years ago but I realize my body coped better then with the icy conditions!” Tim served in the Royal Artillery for 7 years following training at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst in 1985.

Tension Control Bolts offer a consistent and repeatable method for achieving proper bolt preload—something that’s particularly useful when restoring older machinery where original rivets may be worn, stretched, or corroded. In a traction engine, components such as structural frames, boiler mounts, wheel assemblies, or gear housings can benefit from the predictable tightening that tension control bolts provide, helping reduce the risk of uneven stress or loosening under vibration while replicating the look of traditional hot riveting.

New CBAM rules have been implemented affecting TCB assemblies exported to the EU.

The importer or customer now need to have a CBAM code.

What is CBAM and what is MACF and how are they related?

The initials CBAM refer to Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism – this is the European Unions mechanism for applying a carbon related cost to specific imported items including steel, aluminium, cement & fertilisers. TCB Ltd have been reporting CBAM emissions data since October 2024. TCBs are primarily comprised of steel.

The Initial MACF stand for “…Mécanisme d’ajustement carbone aux frontières..” translated as Mechanism For Carbon Adjustment at the Border. The radical change in 2026 is that CBAM is no longer limited to a reporting requirement. CBAM / MACF changes the customs clearance process at the border. The requirement falls upon European fabricators and customers who are deemed the ‘importer’ rather than TCB Ltd as the ‘exporter.’

The EU importer must register a CBAM account , when generated this number is declared formally on the customs entry and integrated to commercial invoices. This allows the European Union to monitor carbon emissions data.

Registration for a CBAM/MACF number is completed via the EU official portal. If the importer does not have a CBAM / MACF number, goods are held by customs with associated delay and cost.

CBAM / MACF is mandatory in 2026 & enforced at the border !

To avoid delays at the border please proactively register for a CBAM / MACF code; via the EU’s official portal:

https://cbam.ec.europa.eu/declarant

The registration generates a number which is integrated into the customs entry, customs can then validate the CBAM / MACF number vie the CERTEX system (Certificates Exchange System).

In other words’; only with the CBAM/MACF number will consignments pass through the border smoothly!

To stress the registration must be completed by the EU based importer. Tension Control Bolts Ltd or freight partners can not undertake this registration on the customers behalf; regardless of the Incoterm applied.

Tension Control Bolts Ltd can assist our customers with this process with guidance , there are temporary CBAM codes and a below 50 tonne cumulative threshold which has already assisted with customs clearance. The requirement falls upon European Union based fabricators, distributers and customers who are deemed the ‘importer’ rather than TCB Ltd as the ‘exporter.’

Tension Control Bolts Ltd have led the way on environmental matters for many years, EU initiatives in relation to CBAM are in need of radical overhaul. The CBAM data does not reflect that steel products, such as Tension Control Bolts are inherently recyclable or that Greenkote® is an award winning eco friendly coating, the recipient of the EU EUREKA innovation award.
