In July 2012, Rotherham United Football Club will once again be able to stage games in their home town. Since leaving their Millmoor stadium, the club has been based at the Don Valley stadium in nearby Sheffield
The New York stadium takes its name from the area of the town where the Guest and Chimes factory is located. Guest and Chimes are famous for manufacturing the iconic New York fire hydrants.
The 12,500 capacity stadium is due to be open in readiness for the 2012/13 season. Main contractors for the project are GMI construction, steelwork supplied by Elland Steel with the erectors Elkrod.
