Mowlem and Railtrack used TCBs to strengthen the longest rail bridge in the UK, the famous Tay rail bridge in Dundee.

The 3.5Km long bridge spans the Firth of Tay linking Dundee with Wormit on the southern shore. This is the second Tay rail crossing, the first collapsed during a storm in 1879.

The Second Tay Bridge has remained in operational use to this day. The strengthening and refurbishing project of the structure was recognised by a British Construction Industry Civil Engineering Award to mark both the scale and difficulty of this work. To replace rivets, TCBs have been installed.
