Visitors to this year’s Global Offshore Wind Exhibition were treated to a hands‑on demonstration of advanced fastening technology, as Macaulay Salter : Sales Engineer showcased the installation of Tension Control Bolts to an attentive audience — including Adam Price , Member of the Senedd and former leader of Plaid Cymru, took part in the demonstration, observers noted his engagement with the technical detail and his interest in the role such innovations play in supporting Wales’ renewable energy ambitions.
The demonstrations, held at the Wales pavilion drew industry professionals, local stakeholders, and policymakers eager to better understand the practical techniques underpinning modern offshore wind infrastructure. Tension Control Bolts, widely used in steel construction, are valued for their ability to deliver precise and reliable clamping force — essential in the demanding conditions faced by offshore wind turbines.
Macaulay guided attendees through the installation process step by step, highlighting both the efficiency and safety advantages of the system. Macaulay demonstrated how the bolts are tightened until a spline shears off, ensuring the correct tension has been achieved without the need for torque measurement — a feature that simplifies installation and inspection with absolutely assured structural integrity of the bolted connection.
